Scheduled 1-on-1 lessons are designed to help you book lessons with particular teachers on a regular basis. Per lesson, you will meet with a teacher for 30 minutes, and they will provide constructive feedback and a customized experience. You can book the lesson from the teacher’s profile or request your preferred day and time. 

Once the lesson is scheduled, you’ll be added to a private chat with your teacher. All 1-on-1 lessons are recorded on students’ profiles so you can rewatch them and continue improving.

When you buy a plan for 1-on-1 lessons, you decide how often you would like to practice with a native teacher per week. Based on your plan, you are given a particular amount of Minutes that you can use each week.

For example, if you choose 30 minutes per day and 3 times a week, you are given 90 Minutes each week, and you can use them to practice 30 minutes per day for three days or practice 90 minutes in one day. 

Your weekly plan Minutes must be used each week. If you don’t use them, they will expire at the end of the week. Your weekly plan Minutes are refreshed the following week, and we can’t rollover them if they expire. 

We designed our plans this way to encourage consistent practice as we believe that the best way to improve your English is to practice on a regular basis. However, we understand you may miss your practice because of busy schedules, so we designed our prices as affordable as possible for you. Even if you miss a few days, it still is a great value to purchase a subscription and practice regularly. 

You can book or request lessons from any teacher’s profile. From their schedules page, you can see and click their open spots to book lessons. 

If you want to explore the list of Hallo teachers, go to the Explore page 🔎 and tap on the 1-on-1 tab (top right corner). You’ll see a list of teachers, an extract of their bios, and the price for their 1-on-1 lessons. Select a teacher and tap “Book” on the bottom right, then select the times that best suit you.

The information about the lesson will be displayed in your profile’s schedule once successfully booked or accepted by the teacher. A green “Join Now” button will appear on your schedule page when it’s time for your lesson.

Browse the list of teachers by going to the Explore Page 🔎 and tapping the 1-on-1 tab on the top right. Use the filters and criteria to find the right classed based on your needs. Scroll down, read their bios, and visit their profile pages to book lessons with those who interest you!

Yes, on both mobile and web. If you can’t find a time you like from your favorite teacher, you can click the “Request Class” button on the teacher’s schedule.

You will use your Minutes when you send a request, but you will get a full refund if the teacher cannot accept your request because of a time conflict. Requests expire after 48 hours.

We encourage you to be punctual and join 5 minutes before the lesson as we take our time and lessons seriously. 

If something urgent came up, and you had to be late, it’s okay as long as you join within 15 minutes of the start time. After that, the teacher is no longer required to stay. 

If the lesson wasn’t cancelled in advance, and you didn’t show up, you don’t get your Minutes back to compensate the teacher’s time.

Please inform your teacher if you have any difficulties before the class by sending them a message. 

Go to your schedule and long-press the class you want to cancel. When you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, you get a 100% refund, but you will only get a 50% refund when you cancel within 24 hours. You or your teacher cannot cancel the class within 1 hour before the lesson’s start time.

Your refund will show immediately after you cancel the lesson in the received section of your transactions.

1. Choose a topic: Send a message in advance and let the teacher know how you want to spend your time during the lesson.

2. Be on time: Don’t be late! Make sure you join the class 5 minutes before the start time from the schedules page.

3. Enjoy the lesson: It’s game time! We encourage you to be brave and speak as much as you can!

4. Ask for feedback: Ask questions and ask for feedback from the teacher to customize your learning experience.

5. Book lessons again: Consistency is key to your success in fluency. 1-on-1 lessons are very effective because you have all the teacher’s attention on you. Booking with a teacher again is one of the greatest compliments you can give them.

You can join your lessons from your schedules page on mobile and web. Ten minutes before a lesson starts, the “Join” button will turn green, and you can click on the button to join. We recommend you check your camera, microphone, and internet speed in advance so you can spend all of your time learning and practicing with your teacher.

If your teacher doesn’t show up within 5 minutes of the start time, you will get a full refund for the lesson. 

You can find your recorded lessons on your profile page on both mobile and web. We encourage you to rewatch your lessons to improve even faster.
